Sign-in

To start using your 3CX desktop app that has been preinstalled on your work computer, you must first go through the self-provisioning process.

 

Step 1

To sign in, go to https://3cx.escondido.org/webclient

  • If you have an @escondido.org email click the Microsoft button, continue to step 2
  • If you do not have an @escondido.org email, please call Telecommunications Team at x6364 for assistance. 

Step 2

Enter your work email, then click next.

Step 3

Enter your work standard password, then click next.

Step 4

Stay signed in? Click yes

Step 5 - Activate

Once signed in to the 3CX website you can activate the 3CX Client. Todo so simply click the windows flag button right below the bell from the left-hand side navigation

Step 6

Click the provision button on the popup dialog

Step 7

Check always allow 3cx.escondido.org to open links of this type in the associate app. Then click open. The 3CX Desktop App is now provisioned. You may now close out of the 3cx.escondido.org webpage. the 3CX App will autorun and login when you start your computer.

3CX App Overview

The 3CX App is an easy-to-use intuitive softphone and companion application for your communication needs. The interface consists of a main content search box, main content window, and lefthand side navigation. See the image below for a quick reference of items.
 

Device Selection

The 3CX App can control your desk phone, smartphone, or softphone. These options are available through a drop-down located within the dialer. The dialer is accessible by clicking the icon on the upper right-hand side. In the first example, the Desk phone would be controlled by the 3CX App with the options to switch to the Browser extension (Softphone) or Smartphone App.

Dialer

The 3CX dialer is accessed by clicking the icon located in the top right of the 3CX App. The Dialer gives you access to the number pad, BLF keys, and device selection.

Global Search

located in the top navigation menu. This searches the entire directory and is what we recommend using. Alternatively, you can search more curated lists within the people pane. Please be aware that these lists will not include main lines and general numbers. They do however give you more options such as initiating Chat, Webconference, Voicemail, etc.

In-Call Functions

During a call you can use the 3CX webclient/softphone to perform various call control actions. Easily hold, mute, start a new call, create a conference, transfer, record (if available) all at the click of a button.

Chat

3CX also includes direct and group chat capabilities available in the chat window . Beyond messaging and sharing files with colleagues, there are options to add interactive chat options on web pages, such as the one featured on the 3CX training pages and the IS Helpdesk Pages that can get routed to a queue of people. To initiate a new chat, you can go directly to the chat window and click the plus button and choose from "Start Chat" or "Create Group Chat" and select the desired colleagues. You can also click the chat icon to direct message people when using the search/ Team windows.

Password

  • 3CX is integrated into your regular PC Login
  • When logging into https://3cx.escondido.org/webclient use the Microsoft button
  • Enter your username@escondido.org and regular password

Recommended Settings

Before you set off, there are a few settings we recommend you go and change.

  • Click on the settings menu. Located under the menu
  • Under Settings - add your first name and last name in the Friendly Name field, with no spaces and all lowercase letters. This enables Conferencing permissions. 
  • Under Chat - change Notifications to "Show Chat Toaster and Web Notifications" and ensure the "Play chat notification" box is checked.
  • Under Audio/Video - Ensure the proper Audio devices are selected if you are using a headset on your PC. NOTE the headset will need to be connected
  • Under View- You will most likely want to order extensions by "First Name Last Name" rather than Extension Number
  • Under Greetings - You can Play and Record your various voice greetings NOTE you cannot delete these greetings once they are recorded
  • Under Scan QR Code - This is a barcode for the mobile app. You can set this up if you have a City cell phone. the QR code is also available by clicking the  icon in the upper right corner of the 3CX App
